Cappadocia.jpg

We enter the region known as Cappadocia which, for all intent and purposes, separate Eastern Turkey from Western Turkey. For many Capadoccia is the highlight of a Turkish trip because of the surreal places seen here. Repeated volcanic eruptions have covered the area with layers of a light rock called Tufa creating a natural "lunar like" landscape. Over time the elements have eroded this surface rock to create unusual valleys and vast rock sculptures called "fairy chimneys" which have been incorporated into the building of towns, vilages and underground settlements.
